Bali has a reputation for being affordable — and it can be, if you're smart about the big costs. Here's how to do Bali on a budget in 2026 without missing the good stuff.
1. Flights are the biggest cost — book early
For travellers from Pakistan, airfare is the single largest expense and it swings a lot. Book early, be flexible on dates, and avoid peak season (June–August and the December holidays). Shoulder months (May, September, October) are cheaper.
2. Eat like a local
- Warungs (local eateries) serve great meals for a fraction of restaurant prices.
- Hotel breakfast is often included — use it.
- Save beach clubs and fine dining for a treat, not every day.
3. Stay smart
- Ubud, Canggu and Sanur have excellent value guesthouses and villas.
- Twin-sharing a room roughly halves your accommodation cost.
- Stay a little outside the busiest streets for better rates.
4. Get around cheaply
- Use Grab and Gojek apps instead of haggling with taxis.
- A private driver split across a group is cheap per person and stress-free.
- Scooters are cheapest — but only if you're licensed and confident (see our scams and mistakes guide).
5. Mix free and paid sights
Rice-terrace walks, the Campuhan Ridge, beaches and temples are cheap or free. Budget for a few paid highlights like Nusa Penida rather than paying for everything.
When a package is actually cheaper
Counter-intuitively, a small-group, land-only trip can cost less than piecing it together yourself — because group rates on villas and transport are lower, and there's no money lost to scams or last-minute bookings.
Our Bali group trip bundles villas, transfers and activities into one honest, land-only price (you book your own flights). See the numbers →
