US Visa from Pakistan: DS-160, Fee & Interview Guide (2026)

By Rashid · 22 July 2026 · 7 min read

The US visitor visa (B1/B2) is one of the most sought-after — and most misunderstood — applications from Pakistan. There's no shortcut and no guarantee, but a clean file and solid interview prep make a real difference. Here's the 2026 process.

Step 1 — Complete the DS-160

The DS-160 is the online non-immigrant visa application. It asks for your travel plans, work, family, and history. Accuracy matters: mistakes or inconsistencies here are a common reason for refusal. You'll get a confirmation page with a barcode — keep it; you need it to book your interview.

Step 2 — Pay the MRV fee

The MRV visa fee is USD 185 for B1/B2, paid in local currency through the designated process. It's non-refundable and tied to your profile — you pay before scheduling your interview.

Step 3 — Book your interview

US visa interviews are held at the US Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulate in Karachi (not at VFS). You'll need your passport number, MRV fee receipt number, and DS-160 barcode to schedule. Wait times vary a lot depending on demand, so start early.

Step 4 — The interview

A consular officer decides your visa in a short interview. They're assessing your ties to Pakistan — job, family, property, finances — and whether your trip makes sense. Bring your documents, answer honestly and concisely, and don't over-explain.

What actually helps (and what doesn't)

  • ✅ A consistent, accurate DS-160 and a clear purpose of travel.
  • ✅ Genuine proof of ties and funds.
  • ❌ "Guaranteed approval" agents — no one can guarantee a US visa or skip the interview. Avoid them.

How we help

Our US visa appointment service covers DS-160 completion, MRV fee guidance, interview scheduling and interview prep — so your file and answers are solid. The decision is always the embassy's, but you'll walk in fully prepared.
